Children Come First
St Dominic nursery has a family, home-from-home feel and provides all our children with a secure and nurturing environment. We have an experienced, well-qualified and stable staff team who are all passionate about providing the very best for the children. Our approach to early education is one that focuses on the immense capacity of children to absorb information when given the freedom and independence to learn at their own pace.
The child is at the centre of everything that we do! Our planned, play-based curriculum covers the seven areas of learning as defined by the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is the national guidance for the Early Years. We plan stimulating activities that follow the children’s interest; covering particular themes and topics throughout the year. We evaluate the effectiveness of our plans and assess the children’s progress regularly.
Our brand new nursery is a dream for little ones, filled with natural quality wooden furniture built from real, solid wood, inspiring play and supporting all aspects of child development. We believe that children learn best whilst being in nature and exposed to the natural and real environment. We encourage outdoor learning and plan a variety of unique outdoor experiences throughout your child’s time at St Dominic. We believe that ‘It takes a village to raise a child!’ Therefore, we establish strong links with our families and local community. We are very fortunate to be situated in a beautiful part of the Tamar Valley. We believe it is important to foster an understanding of social responsibility and care for the world within our school community. We recycle as much as possible, grow our own food when we can and buy resources from sustainable sources as much as possible.
Come and see for yourself. You will get a feel for what we believe in and what we want for all our children. We usually find that when children visit they do not want to leave!
We look forward to welcoming you.
